Here’s a great way to get a nice cardio base for yourself and possibly lose a few pounds.
Watch the Tour de France at the gym!
I did this a few years ago, lost around 10 pounds, and learned a ton about cycling, a sport I never new much about.
Here’s the plan:
1. Go to The Outdoor Life Network TV Schedule and check out the TV schedule for the Tour (It’s on channel 34 almost all day, so no excuses!).
2. The last hour is the most entertaining, so plan to start your cardio workout about 65 to 70 minutes before the end of the telecast. Then you don’t have to sit through too many interviews at the end of the race.
3. Get a full bottle of water!
4. Get on your favorite cardio machine and start watching the Tour!
5. Keep your heart rate at around 100 for the first 15 minutes.
6. After your 15 minute warmup, increase your intensity until you’re up to this number: 180 – your age. For example, if you’re 30, you would go up to 150 beats per minute.
Stay at or just under that heart rate for up to 45 minutes.
8. Cool down for a few minutes.
9. Drink another full bottle of water!
10. Repeat until the end of the Tour!
Have fun!
