I wasn’t sure what (or who) to expect when I came to the gym for the Total Body Turnaround Six Month Anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised to see 5 of the 10 original participants had come ready to do a 20 minute spinning workout and go eat some Sushi.
The workout went great, and John actually called out the intervals as we all looked out the windows onto the canal and had conversations about how our lives had been over the last few months since the first 12 weeks of TBT had ended. It was relaxed and fun, and the time went by very quickly.
Our lunch at Blue C Sushi was filled with conversation about Seattle and how it has changed, theories on why five of us were at the Anniversary and five of us were not, and about a wide range of topics on health and exercise.
As I sat at the table, I realized that my dream of having people around me who were also into and able to talk about health and exercise had come true!
Not everybody was still following the program to the T, in fact most people had varied and changed the program to fit their specific lifestyle and needs. But there were a few similarities everyone had:
1. Everybody was still exercising consistently - even one of us who was 4 months pregnant and taking pre-natal yoga classes.
2. Everybody was still making good choices in terms of diet and nutrition – not starving themselves, not gorging themselves, and staying away from unhealthy foods, except for on special occasions.
3. Everyone had a positive outlook. We talked of challenges and how we overcame them, or what changes we made to make things work. We talked about concerns about falling off the wagon, and plans we had put in place to make sure those things never happened.
4. Everyone looked healthier and in better shape than they were six months ago. Nobody had turned into a fitness model, but it was clear that the exercise and nutrition had really helped.
I realized that it’s not about the specifics of the plan that are important, but more the fact that everyone had made that initial choice to “do something”. It was just lucky for me that “something” was Total Body Turnaround.
Congratulations and thank you to all of you who were able to commit to this program and stick with it! It was an inspiring day, and I’m looking forward to seeing everybody at the gym and at our 9 month anniversary sometime this summer!
If you have fallen off the wagon or haven’t taken the opportunity to get on the wagon yet, maybe now is the time. Call me and we can get you started or re-started. It’s really an investment in yourself and your future, and I’d love to be a small part of your success.
