I was born in 1971. I’m a 1971 model human. I’ll never be eighteen again, or in my twenties, no matter how much I would like to be.
However, there are a lot of really cool cars made in 1971. Here’s a Ford Mustang.

When you go to restore a car and you haven’t been taking great care of it, it’s going to take some work. You may have to replace some parts, rebuild the motor, give it a new paint job, etc. It’s going to take time, and that’s just the reality of it. Things will come up that you didn’t expect. You may find that the axles need fixing. A wheel may need to be replaced. You may find your restoration job is going to take longer than you expected, and you may get discouraged.
However, as you continue to work a little bit every day, you will start seeing changes taking place. This should give you motivation to keep working.
At some point, you will find that the work you have been doing has started to taper off, and that only minor tweaks and adjustments are needed to keep running at optimum performance. You’ll notice that most models from your year are not as good looking and don’t run quite as well as yours does.
Since you have done all the work yourself, when the inevitable fixes or adjustments are required, you’ll know how to fix it. You’ll also know enough about your vehicle to notice small problems before they become big problems.
