I've changed my mind. Doing any less than 6 days of exercise a week is going to greatly reduce your chances of success. Why? Because the most important aspect of this program is the HABIT and ROUTINE.
Want evidence? Here's what I've got:
- The US Government recommends a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate to intense exercise MOST (Not half, not one more than half) days of the week. So do most of the exercise science institutions. Anything less is just a desperate attempt to get you to do something.
- The people in my program who exercise 6 days a week are seeing and feeling more success than the people who are "doubling up" on cardio and weights 3 or 4 days a week. They are more focused, and are having far fewer "obstacles" in their daily lives. I don't think it's a coincidence.
- I have been trying out the 3 day a week "doubling up" method for about a month and it's a lot harder for me to exercise hard because I am pacing myself during my workouts, which really means "taking it easy". I also feel like I'm starting over every other day.
I don't know about you, but I don't feel like I need too much more evidence to convince myself. I suppose I could go out and do a bunch more research before I make such a statement, but when 6 days a week isn't going to hurt you, why should I wait? What if you, who are reading this now, needs one more little nudge to be convinced, and this article is it? Why should I wait?
If you can set aside an hour and a half to exercise every other day, why can't you set aside 45 minutes every day? If the evidence suggests you will be much more successful exercising 6 days a week, why resist it?
70 to 80 percent of premature aging and death are related to lifestyle. Get yours in gear, and exercise 6 days a week.
